Launch Success

Te Tira sang beautifully during a full acapella choral program on July 26 to launch conductor Kiri Waiata’s first songbook for community choirs.

The concert included other local community choirs Peace’n’Choir based in Mt Nebo and the Deep C Diva’s based in Ashgrove.   One of Kiri’s other singing groups Word Of Mouth travelled from Northern New South Wales to participate in the concert.  As did guest soloist 11 year old Tulsai Krasna.

We All Sing Under THE SAME MOON Acapella Songbook for community choirs can be purchased and instantly downloaded here.

We are now working on a new set of repertoire gearing up for an end of year performance.  Songs include Beatles hit If I Fell, Hope from Sweet Honey in the Rock and Teach Your Children penned by Graham Nash of Crosby Stills and Nash fame.

It’s a great time to join us!

Term 2

Term 2 officially commences April 20 with an unofficial official rehearsal this Monday due to our mid year concert commitments.

If you are considering coming along to check out our merry band of choristers, I suggest you do so April 20th.  We would love to see and hear you!

Tech Head

Director Kiri is in the midst of a steep learning curve.

The desire for Te Tira to be heard at its best at upcoming concerts in June and July has driven Kiri to delve into technical and software places never before considered.

New notation, conversion and engraving software is at the ready.

It would seem the days of learning a song aurally alone, are gone.  Scores and practice audios are the way to go!

Wish Kiri luck!

Full Swing

It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of Term 1 for 2015!  Time certainly has flown and Te Tira have been in full swing working hard on repertoire for our mid year concerts.

June 13 (Brisbane)  and July 26 (Kingscliff)  will see Te Tira join vocal forces with Word of Mouth from Fingal Head to launch Kiri Waiata’s songbook of original compositions.  Venues and times TBA.

Peer Sing 2014

More than 150 community choristers gathered in New Farm on Saturday, November 8 to sing to and for each other.

It was a magnificent and entertaining afternoon.  A time cherish by the conductors who coordinate the event which culminates a year of supporting each other to lead community choirs.

Te Tira performed beautifully and there was certainly a lot of love in the air, for the songs and each other.  A special group of people.

if you would like to be part of something like this, then why not come along and “try us on for size?”

Term 3

Our third term for 2014 is underway.  We have a number of songs that have reached the polishing stage and Kiri has some new material in the wings ready to go.

We’ve almost nailed:

Hine E Hine – a Maori lullaby written in 1907 by Princess Te Rangi Pai

Love Is Born – by Australian composer and choral director Rachel Hore OAM

Walking Song – another Aussie composer Andrea Watson

And a work in progress is choir director Kiri Waiata’s One Step Forward

Why not come along and join in the harmony and fun?!
