More than 150 community choristers gathered in New Farm on Saturday, November 8 to sing to and for each other.
It was a magnificent and entertaining afternoon. A time cherish by the conductors who coordinate the event which culminates a year of supporting each other to lead community choirs.
Te Tira performed beautifully and there was certainly a lot of love in the air, for the songs and each other. A special group of people.
if you would like to be part of something like this, then why not come along and “try us on for size?”

Our third term for 2014 is underway. We have a number of songs that have reached the polishing stage and Kiri has some new material in the wings ready to go.
We’ve almost nailed:
Hine E Hine – a Maori lullaby written in 1907 by Princess Te Rangi Pai
Love Is Born – by Australian composer and choral director Rachel Hore OAM
Walking Song – another Aussie composer Andrea Watson
And a work in progress is choir director Kiri Waiata’s One Step Forward
Why not come along and join in the harmony and fun?!

The date for the annual Peer Sing has been set for November 9.
This is an opportunity for the choirs conducted by the members of Community Choir Conductors group to perform for each other and to sing as a massed choir…..some 200 voices!
Always a spectacular afternoon followed by an time for socialising and hanging out with likeminded folk.
The event is not open to the public, though family members of choir participants are welcome.

Yes Choir Camp…..not Band Camp….that would be a whole other movie!
Te Tira will be joining Peace’n’Choir, based at Mt Nebo and The Straddie Singers for North Stradbroke Island for a weekend of singing, singing and well, more singing!
Actually there will be some body percussion thrown in there for good measure just to keep us on our toes! Renowned percussionist GREG SHEEHAN will be facilitating one of the three workshop sessions across the weekend.
It bodes to be a fabulous time for all.
We will be at Camp Bornhoffen near Natural Arch for the June weekend. By all reports a beautiful place and the PCYC facility is well appointed providing bunkhouse accommodation and full commercial kitchen.
Can’t wait!
Till next time….. just sing!

Te Tira and two other community choirs are in the early stages of planning a weekend away!
Exciting stuff! We’ll workshop, sing, eat, visit glow worms, do the whole camp fire thing, hang out with like-minded folk and generally have an awesome time!
If this sound like something you’d like to get in on…..come and join Te Tira!!!

It may be raining an awful lot in Brisbane of late, however, bar one night where I couldn’t leave my home due to landslides and there was no power to our rehearsal venue, there has been nothing but sunshine when the choir comes together.
We have a couple of new members which is always fantastic, though no doubt a little daunting for them! All good fun though.
So if you fancy a sing, a laugh and to meet new people, come along!

Well, just when we thought we were all organised and set to go, Te Tira decided to reconvene earlier in 2013 than originally planned.
Our new start date is January 14, 2013. Nice to know everyone is keen and will miss the opportunity to sing over the Christmas break.
As always new members welcome anytime!
